Cavities Not a Problem for Level Access Lifts
Level Access Lifts had to get their teeth into providing a number of lifting solutions throughout the General Dental Council Building in Westminster. One of the solutions involved the application of an inclined platform stairlift to serve the main entrance (technically very difficult as the lift needed to land over a large cavity (light-well) at the lower level. At the upper level, the lift needed to travel (in the folded position) into the building from outside, through a bespoke letterbox arrangement). By liaising closely with the building contractor, a scheme was devised that not only ensured that (visibly) the architecture remained unchanged, but also appeased the Planning Department at Westminster City Council.
Rachel Blu of the General Dental Council comments; “We had a number of access issues throughout the building. After consulting Level Access Lifts they were able to come up with a number of options for each application. After tasking Level Access Lifts with the project, we have been extremely pleased with all of the installations and the subsequent servicing that they have carried out, I would not hesitate to recommend them”.
The products used ranged from short travel Steplifts through to the specialised inclined platform stairlift range (notably the Garaventa Artira which is suitable for external applications – not widely available from other lift suppliers). This product can also be supplied with an ‘auto fold’ option, meaning that the lift platform and barrier arms will fold themselves away after a pre-determined period of time if the lift is left unfolded and unattended.
